A Midsummer’s Night Shoot

987

A small contigent of BJA Smurfs (Chris, Shai and Andrew) attended the Bramcote Midsummer shoot on Wednesday evening and shot a Short National – 50/40 yards. 4 dozen and 2 dozen. There was a steady wind from the left but nowhere near as bad as Sunday (from now on  Bramcote should be known as farty fields).

Shai put in a phenomenal score of 642 dropping only 3 arrows out of the gold and into the 7, coming joint 3rd.  Andrew scored 636 dropping 6 in the 7s (He blames the fish & chips, fudge cake and beer at lunch).

The recurvers had a rough time in the wind and Chris put in a score of 596 coming a very creditable 4th – he even had a “good” excuse – putting his side bars on the wrong sides and unbalancing his bow and so was fighting it all the way through the competition and didn’t realise until he took his bow down at the end!  (Take note for future excuses as this has to vie for the top ten!)

Purely for research purposes, in anticipation of our hosting the Tri Counties, Andrew felt he had to sample a sausage and bacon cob – and it was very nice too.

Next year we should go en masse and win hands down (and eat them out of butties)!
