Tournament Smurf did an excellent job of signing up a large contingent, but on the day the call of Sunday lunch and Rugby was too strong for some and we were a little depleted on the day, but even with reduced numbers, we did rather well.

The temperature inside the Joseph Whittaker sports hall is as variable as the weather at the moment, and today the temperature was positively tropical, which was handy as it allowed Archers excuse number 37 to come into play; “my arrows are not used to the warm temparture, so they’re not going in the Gold”.

In addition to the tropical temperatures, competitors needed to hone their gymnastic skills as space was somewhat limited behind the shooting line which resuted in lots of “Sorry, Oops, and Excuse me’s” being heard whilst scrablling for space behind the line.

On signing in, we were greeted with “You need to have your equipment checked my Mario”.  Oooer; double entendres abound!  This wasn’t the only new innovation, we were treated to a new signalling system, two chirps for ready and one beep to go to the line.  Rumour has it that Notts had bought a Budgie from the local pet shop becasue the pea had gone missing from the team whistle.  However, the new system worked well so watch out for it at future events.  I think they’ll probably need a bigger Budgie at outdoor events though.

A miserable 546!

Whilst unable to attend the morning session, your erstwhile correspondent has gleaned a few dispatches from the trenches.  Clearly the temperature had affected Chris’ arrows as he sent out a dispatch by Carrier Text about his derisory score being less than anticipated and then promptly vanished without trace.

The lunchtime session had a few more Smurfs turn out, with the only major incident coming from Shai who missed the target and complaining that his super duper new rest kept breaking (stop fiddling with it!).  Although recorded as a miss, he put two arrows in the same target face, which counts as a miss on the Dark Side.  The final sesssion brought no revelations, and was followed up by the Results:

Recurve

Adeel came second, Dave third, Mel second. We also won the team recurve trophy.

If/when the full results are published, then they will be posted here.  In the meantime here’s some pics of the day.  Some of them are a little on the blurred side, but it was a long day and Shai was getting sleepy.

The results are now out on the Notts website.
